Clayton first encountered HOIST at the Prophecy Performance Centre in Liverpool and later at industry trade show FIBO. He was immediately impressed by HOIST’s ROC-IT line, particularly the innovative movement design: “It’s very different to other brands in the way it moves and works. With the Bicep Curl for example, it allows you to isolate the biceps, move in a strict motion under cable resistance, without overloading your back - when we explain this to members, they really get it and it's a real USP for the equipment.”
Unlike any other selectorised equipment, the ROC-IT line makes the exerciser an integral part of the exercise motion, by continually adjusting the position of the user as they engage the target muscles to move the exercise arm. By continually moving and adjusting the users’ body throughout the range of motion, the ROC-IT products ensure correct biomechanics throughout the exercise.
Seeing a gap in his local market for high-quality strength training equipment, Clayton knew HOIST would help to elevate his gym beyond competition: “There’s nothing locally like this - that was one of the reasons why I wanted HOIST equipment in the gym.”
The ROC-IT Bicep Curl and ROC-IT Prone Leg Curl machines have become focal points at Ascendancy, with the equipment in high demand, “The Bicep Curl in particular is really popular - it's next to the dumbbell racks in front of the mirror and gets loads of use.”
Ascendancy also worked closely with the HOIST team to customise the equipment frame colour to an exact match of the gym’s branding. Clayton described his experience of working with HOIST’s UK team as: “Amazing - the service and support we've had has been second to none. The communication, support and advice - nothing was ever too much trouble, and it's really built the trust in Steve and the brand. I'd definitely buy more HOIST equipment as a result.”
As Ascendancy grows, Clayton is already considering expanding his collection of HOIST equipment. For Ascendancy Fitness, HOIST has proven to be nothing short of a game-changer in both performance and service.
